Viettel API Gateway (vAPIG) is an optimal service product in managing and coordinating APIs, acting as a center for receiving and processing requests from users to backend services.

vAPIG supports both HTTP API and REST API, handling requests from the client side efficiently and securely. Flexible Routing

Provides flexible routing of requests from clients to backend services. Routing is done based on many criteria such as URL and HTTP method. This allows vAPIG to forward requests to the appropriate services, accurately meeting customer needs.

Authentication integration​

Supports integration with Open Authorization 2.0 (OAuth2) and OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication services. vAPIG authenticates users and verifies access using a JWT Token before forwarding requests to the client’s backend services, ensuring only valid requests are processed.

Traffic moderation

Limits the number of requests from a client in a specified time period, setting the maximum number of requests a client can make. This mechanism helps prevent distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks and protect the system.

Connection security

Provides security features such as SSL Termination and supports security policies such as CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) to control access from different clients.

Data Conversion

Allows to configure API request and response information conversion, helping to convert information from components in the request (such as path, query string, headers and body into JSON) before sending information to the backend service. Similar to requests, response information from backend services is also converted before being returned to the client.

API version management​

Supports managing different versions of the API, allowing clients to update and change different versions without affecting the system operation of the client in use.

Caching​

The caching feature allows temporary storage of responses from the backend, helping to reduce the load on the customer system and increase the response speed for the client. Cache can be dynamically configured according to time-to-live (TTL) to optimize performance and enhance customer experience.

Enhanced security

vAPIG ensures the system only processes properly authenticated requests, thereby enhancing security and protecting customer data. This helps prevent security risks, while improving the safety of the entire system.

Optimize system performance

vAPIG helps minimize the number of direct accesses to the system by using word caching and throttling requests from clients within a specified period of time. This helps the system operate smoothly, reduce latency and increase response speed.
