Today, application building architectures are increasingly complex. With the advent of cloud computing, the application performance monitoring operation process also needs to be upgraded and adjusted accordingly. Since 2013, system performance monitoring has been proposed by Gartner Research with a new conceptual framework called APM – Application performance management.

Application Performance Monitoring (vAPM) package is the world’s leading APM technology application solution, accompanied by Viettel IDC’s high-quality IT team, thereby providing customers with a package monitoring solution for applications.

vAPM collects, analyzes and processes telemetry data (Metrics, Logs, Events, Traces) from which to build a real-time Dashboard and alert system for Enterprises. The main purpose is to ensure the smooth operation of the application and enhance the end-user experience.

Mobile applications, Web sites are typical use cases.

Instead of traditional monitoring, vAPM observes the system, proactively detects problems and helps the operation team handle problems before affecting End Customers. Especially with the application of containers and Kubernetes to building apps, the application of advanced monitoring tools such as vAPM becomes even more essential to control the complexity of IT systems.

When your system fails, using the vAPM tool automatically collects real-time data about the problem and alerts the Enterprise. This is done by examining telemetry data to evaluate application runtime and performance metrics.

Doesn’t affect much. vAPM agent is only rated to increase up to 1-4% of system resources. % increase of CPU/RAM will depend on different applications/environments. In terms of networking, each vAPM agent will take up about 0.0008 Mb/s ~ 838 bytes/s or about 50k bytes/min, which is insignificant compared to a small icon on google.com taking up 1,150 bytes and the Google logo is 7,330 bytes.

vAPM supports most popular application languages such as: Go, Java, .NET, Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby.
